Eversource's Francisco Vasquez Builds Supplier Diversity Program Through Visibility

Francisco Vasquez Supplier Diversity Manager for the Eversource Procurement: Strategy & Performance Group, has turned visibility into metrics, accountability, training opportunities, and outreach efforts to meet supplier diversity program goals. Latest results include: solving a multi-year issue at Eversource by helping a diverse supplier develop new capacity; and using an analytics-based, data visualization approach which helped him win an “Innovative Supplier Diversity Program” award in 2018. A belief in visibility guides his efforts to create a culture of education and accountability, by setting internal goals and creating performance metrics that are regularly reported and shared with the whole procurement team as well as senior leadership.

Vasquez worked with an MBE supplier to develop an eLearning course that all employees, from the supervisor level and above, must complete. He readily shares credit for success with all the procurement agents and business partners for their support for the Supplier diversity program. Vasquez publishes an RFP calendar of opportunities from the e-sourcing system, and has enhanced ERP spend reporting capabilities to include supplier diversity key data headers for analysis. He developed the Diversity Scoring Criteria for Key Prime Contractors which encourages T2 spend and workforce diversity.
