The Women's Business Development Center (WBDC), under the leadership of its President and Chief Executive Officer Emilia DiMenco, works with startup, emerging, and established female businesses to accelerate business development and growth. Under DiMenco's leadership, the WBDC also advocates for women and all diverse business across the Midwest. The WBDC offers many in-person and online workshops and learning events. Connect & Celebrate events bring together local and regional women, minority, and veteran business owners to connect with community, corporate, and government partners. DiMenco's philosophy is that women and minority business owners need a seat at the table to participate in conversations that are critical to success.
DiMenco is immersed in the Chicago business community and is a member of the Economic Club, Chicago Network, Federation of Women Contractors, City Club of Chicago, and Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce. Recognized for her exemplary leadership, she has earned numerous awards that include the 2017 ATHENA Leadership Award. Nationally, DiMenco is a leader in Women Impacting Public Policy, helping to develop policies on access to capital for women-owned businesses.
