Lorrinda Gray-Davis has helped make Perini Building Company a leader for diversity in the construction industry. She was hired three years ago as the director of diversity, and in the span of two years, the company awarded $500 million in construction contracts to minority- and women-owned businesses.

She trained all Perini employees on the importance of hiring qualified, diverse vendors and subcontractors. Managers received even more in-depth information about specific procedures to adhere to, and how to provide support to the diverse businesses. Gray-Davis also recruited and educated outside companies about project opportunities, the steps needed to obtain a contract, and also how to succeed on the job. Gray-Davis has also made alliances with business and government agencies to assist MWBEs with getting business, legal and financial advice.
