Unilever’s Alexandra Tarmo Embeds Supplier Diversity in Business Strategies


Alexandra Tarmo is the Head of Partnerships & Social Procurement at Unilever in Switzerland. She is responsible for designing and implementing the new Partnership strategy for Unilever. This will embed the company’s ambitions around growth, innovation, environment, and positive social impact. Alexandra follows three key principles to develop a successful Supplier Diversity Program. First is gaining the full support of top leaders who genuinely and consistently echo their support of the initiatives. The second is ensuring the sentiments are aligned with the wider agenda of the organization. The third is ensuring the engagement and involvement of people on the ground who are bringing these initiatives to life by talking to colleagues, peers, and experts to gather different perspectives and unlock new ways of evolving and improving the program.

Alexandra Alexandra finds her inspiration and success in senior management support and a supportive team of like-minded colleagues.

Through her leadership, supplier diversity has introduced a new, wider purpose to Procurement. Alexandra have been recognized Supplier Diversity advocate of the year in 2021 and has also launched the first European Supplier Diversity Program in partnership with MSDUK.
