Angela Phillips Utilizes Multi-Faceted Approach to Supplier Diversity at Gilead Sciences


Angela Phillips is the Senior Director, Head of Supplier Inclusion for Gilead Sciences. She has tirelessly worked to build awareness programmatically across the enterprise, set up scalable technology, operationalize new processes and programs to enhance the supplier experience, and commit to multiple sponsorships with key ally national organizations such as NMSDC, WBENC, and NGLCC. Partnerships are leveraged to drive socio-economic empowerment that impacts job creation, income, wage generation, access to financing, and health equity. Angela has led the effort to raise internal awareness, establish a scalable foundational infrastructure, introduce new practices, bring innovations from diverse-owned or small businesses to stakeholders, and establish goals to hold leaders accountable for progress towards them.

Angela employs a multi-faceted approach to champion supplier diversity, including holding exciting events and targeting internal roadshow engagements. One example is the "A Conversation on Supplier Inclusion with SodexoMagic Chair/CEO, Earvin "MAGIC" Johnson" event attended virtually and in-person by employees from 20 countries. Angela collaborates with leadership to set goals and track progress with transparency, elevate visibility into incumbent diverse/small businesses' capabilities, and embed supplier inclusion practices in organizational processes.
