In her role as Vice President, Global Sourcing at Boston Scientific, Chandrika Karavadra creates opportunities to engage with and support diverse suppliers. Chandrika shares best practices and learning opportunities, and incorporates diversity across all phases of the sourcing process to drive continuous engagement and build opportunities for diverse suppliers. This approach includes proactive supplier capability assessments, stakeholder education, request for proposal (RFP) inclusion, and category specific spend targets. She creates value by engaging early with suppliers to understand business requirements and executing a robust sourcing process that reflects diversity, inclusion and innovation.
In addition, Chandrika implemented a mentorship program called BEAM (Black Entrepreneur Advancement & Mentorship), in which mentees are coached and attend a two-day executive leadership program. She also co-sponsored the Elevate Black virtual event with Diversity Alliance for Science and served as a panelist. During the event, she shared the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, insights on leveraging potential opportunities and guidance on the sourcing process.
