Chuck Stefanosky Creates Opportunities for Diverse Suppliers at Independence Blue Cross


Chuck Stefanosky is the Supplier Diversity Director at Independence Blue Cross, and holder of an MBA from Penn State University. At Independence, he develops and implements strategies for identifying, boosting, and securing contracts with companies owned by women, people of color, veterans,and the LGBTQ community. He firmly believes that “diverse suppliers will be successful at the same rate as majority suppliers if they are offered the same opportunities,” and his actions at Independence speak to this commitment.


In his time there he has worked as a liaison between executive leadership, the board, and diverse business owners, as well as launched the Independence Networking Group, a consortium of ten Black-owned businesses working in the region. Working together with these organizations, Stefanosky has invited other corporations to engage with the group and develop opportunities for new contracts. As significant is his work tochampion and establish an all-important zero-day payment policy on contracts with diverse suppliers. This ensuresthe suppliersare compensated swiftly for their work, freeing up their cash flow to pursue further opportunities.
