Dr. Erica Patterson, Director of Contracts Management & Supplier Diversity at Philadelphia Gas Works, aligned with internal client departments to understand project scopes for including small, diverse, and local businesses in procurement and contract opportunities. She diversified Supply Chain Practices, Processes, and Policies to demonstrate full commitment to developing, utilizing, and including diverse businesses in the procurement and supplier diversity ecosystem. Dr. Erica launched the Diverse Business Development Program (DBDP), implemented a robust compliance program with monthly metrics to measure performance, and ensures PGW is represented at all diversity advocacy and local economic opportunity organizations.
Dr. Erica built PGW’s commitment to Supplier Diversity on five foundational pillars: Inclusion, Diversifying Supply Chain/Procurement Practices, Engagement, Building Strategic Partnerships, and Driving Compliance and Performance. She uses a multifaceted strategy by forming cross-functional collaborative teams, sharing diverse supplier success stories through a company-wide newsletter, working closely with internal client departments, and employees resource groups (ERGs).
