Dr. William Kapfer Overlays DEI Lens in JPMorgan Chase Processes


Dr. William Kapfer is the Global Head of Supplier Diversity Community Engagement for JPMorgan Chase. Under William’s leadership, JPMorgan Chase was inducted into the Billion Dollar Roundtable as its 28th member.

William leads and drives sustainable change throughout JPMorgan Chase by overlaying a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable lens in everything the organization does. A central component of his success is the development of collaborative relationships across JPMorgan Chase’s seven Centers of Excellence (COEs), established to support diverse communities' business, professional, and financial success.

His leadership has been instrumental in the establishment of critical best practices to promote DEI across the corporate community- including the mobilization of over 100 of the organization’s top suppliers, known as “Gold Suppliers,” to mirror the firm’s commitment to supplier diversity by spending more with underrepresented businesses- an effort that generated more than $6 billion in new diverse supplier spend over two years.

William and his team work closely with sourcing and procurement to develop and cultivate a pipeline of qualified diverse suppliers across its top spend categories. But in addition to spending, they place an emphasis on supplier development by leveraging industry relationships to help diverse suppliers become more cyber-ready and establishing a Diverse Supplier Grant Initiative to provide access to the capital diverse businesses need to meet minimum corporate requirements.
