Erica Hill, now Vice President of Talent Acquisition at CBRE’s Global Workplace Solutions was previously CBRE’s first Global Vice President of Supplier, Equity & Inclusion. A key to success in supplier diversity (SD) at CBRE is the integration of supplier diversity into the company’s comprehensive business strategy.
Erica names the success factors for a global SD program as leadership commitment, shared goals, accessible resources and training, strong advocacy partnerships, community engagement, and procurement policies supporting the integration of SD into sourcing and procurement. As a global program, Erica also adds the importance of respecting the laws and cultural norms of each country, as well as developing a network of supplier diversity champions.
Recognizing the difficulty diverse suppliers face in gaining an equitable opportunity to compete for business at large companies, Erica implemented a strategic framework for supplier diversity, adding intentionality to creating opportunities for diverse businesses. She is proud of CBRE’s definitive actions to advance equity for diverse suppliers. These include a public commitment to increase spending with diverse suppliers to $3 billion by 2025. CEO, Executive Committee, and employee involvement have created top-down and bottom-up support across all organizational levels.
