Gloria Richards is the Supplier Diversity Coordinator at Marathon Petroleum Company. A strategic combination with Andeavor in October 2018 led to Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) becoming the largest refiner in the United States. This combination offered Gloria the opportunity to bring together the best practices both companies historically had used. Gloria worked to develop a focused, proactive approach to Supplier Diversity that was new to many in the company. The biggest challenge she has faced is ensuring everyone, coast to coast, has the same strategic thinking surrounding the Supplier Diversity Program.
Gloria has tirelessly worked to bring more awareness and communication from buyers to suppliers. Through better communication and deepened relationships, she encourages diverse suppliers to become registered with certifying agencies so that they can become a part of the company's diverse suppliers’ program. Gloria has a tremendous passion for sharing Marathon's commitment to supplier diversity. She strives for open communication with internal and external teams to advocate for the diverse supplier program. Her advocacy role is critical to helping the program achieve long-term success.
