Karmetria Burton is the Senior Director of Global Supply Chain, Business Diversity, Corporate Strategy and Execution at McDonald’s. She is a strategic and impact-driven leader, who takes a holistic approach to Supplier Diversity to create an ecosystem of influence. Her strategy has several important elements. First, it is critical to create accountability within the organization (policy). She solicits influential executives who can help move the supplier diversity needle (executive champions). Next, a new strategy, Mutual Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at McDonald’s is driving results through the current suppliers is a sure way to sustain Diversity Equity and Inclusion. She partners with the DEI team to leverage its work and stakeholders for greater impact, and takes an assessment to create a baseline for measurement going forward.
Committed to creating opportunities with diverse suppliers, Karmetria uses her personal experience as inspiration. She worked for her father’s diverse business after college, seeing herself as a product of what happens when corporations invest in diverse businesses. Karmetria firmly believes that providing solutions in the form of diverse businesses is essential to helping leaders meet their goals.
