Kimberly Marcus Makes DEI Impact at AARP Through Outreach


Kimberly Marcus is the Director, Supplier Diversity, AARP and a founding member of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Task Force and Council. This led to the formation of the DEI office which assists AARP with addressing opportunities in the workforce, workplace, and marketplace. The creation of the DEI Office enables Kimberly to garner greater visibility and impact for Supplier Diversity. Kimberly led the development of Supplier Spotlight videos, providing insights into the talented small and diverse businesses AARP does business with. She collaborates with AARP State Offices to champion the growth of Supplier Diversity.

Kimberly co-developed and facilitated AARP’s crucial conversation training around DEI in order to maintain open and honest communication. Prior to joining AARP, she was a presidential appointee for the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency where she was the Associate Director for the Office of Legislative, Education & Intergovernmental Affairs; the National African American Outreach Director for the Democratic National Committee; the Executive Director for the Public Policy & Government Relations office for Rainbow PUSH Coalition; and the Director of Economic Development for NAACP. Kimberly also previously owned and managed her own diversity consulting firm.
