Larry Phillips is the Assistant Vice President, Culture and Inclusion for Gallagher, where he manages Gallagher Connect Partners, an inclusive network of minority, women, veteran, and other diverse certified insurance firms that assist with solving client risk management, insurance, and supplier diversity needs. He formalized Gallagher’s diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies that led to diversifying the sales team and workforce. The solution included diverse recruiting, expanding relationships with schools, and partnering with the best-in-class minority, women and veteran-owned insurance firms. Larry ensures diverse agencies have a meaningful role in helping Gallagher service accounts and brings Partners to the table.
Larry offered his assistance to the Director of Talent Acquisition to enhance work with HBCUs, Hispanic Serving Institutions, all-women colleges, community colleges and other schools with diverse student populations to identify and source top diverse talent. Gallagher is now intentional about expanding relationships with more diverse schools and purposeful about maximizing time while on campuses. Larry implemented DEI Coffee Chats, one-hour webinars celebrating different heritage and inclusion months, created employee safe spaces for sharing experiences, and developed DEI task forces across regions.
