Lynn Torrel is the Chief Procurement and Supply Chain Officer at Flex. She launched the “True Demand” initiative in response to the COVID pandemic and an unprecedented scarcity of chips. Lynn is partnering with leaders from the electronics industry to re-examine how supply chains have historically worked. Using an independent third party, “True Demand” would collect forecast data from industry stakeholders and compare it to industry reports and macro economic indicators. This would produce recommendations to aid in capacity planning and investment decisions. Lynn’s ultimate goal is to rethink forecasting, communication processes, and collaboration across the industry to develop solutions that mitigate supply chain disruptions and temper future bullwhip effects.
Lynn has developed a robust supplier relationship management program built on collaboration. She believes collaboration is the best approach for accessing collective genius to make intelligent decisions. Her team works closely with suppliers to ensure they meet all corporate requirements and strives to create a merit-based supply chain that is diverse and local. By partnering with diversity advocacy organizations, her team provides mentorship and business opportunities for diverse companies to make a social impact locally.
