Wande Leintu is the Principal of Supplier Diversity and Inclusion for Amazon Global Procurement Organization. She leads the strategic outreach initiatives to ensure diverse-owned and small businesses gain maximum contracting opportunities. Wande leverages supplier diversity as a strategic organizational effort, needed to remain competitive in a global landscape. She credits the success of Amazon’s world-class supplier diversity program to a strong commitment from senior leadership, integration of supplier diversity in the source-to-pay process, creation of a comprehensive tier two program, the establishment of a spend target, creation of a supplier development program, and economic and social impact analyses.
Immigrating from Africa, Wande sees her role in Supplier Diversity as an opportunity to bridge the disparity gap between the majority and minority population. It is her inspiration for growing the Supplier Diversity program.
Wande measures her success by the lives she impacts in a meaningful way through Diversity and Inclusion efforts. She uses supplier diversity to drive positive economic and social impacts in underserved communities, with the goal that communities will drive their own positive change.
