As the Chief Procurement & Supply Chain Officer at Flex, Lynn Torrel names a key to developing a successful supplier diversity program as starting with and communicating clear goals. Recognizing there is no one-size-fits-all strategy, she first develops knowledge of each region of Flex’s operation, and she develops a unique supplier diversity program for the region. Lynn advises other people developing global supplier diversity to be patient and allow the programs to develop and grow over time. One of the important elements of Lynn’s success is her opportunity to work with many different leaders on a global basis. She considers herself a lifelong learner, and uses the opportunities to study other cultures and to learn from colleagues. Lynn has worked with organizations like Women in Electronics and mentors women, helping them define their strengths and areas for career planning and growth.
