Claire Scanlon, manager of BNY
Mellon’s supplier development
program, was instrumental in
creating and developing the program
in 1994. To Scanlon, the company’s
greatest challenge is getting
W/MBEs to understand the complexity of its
businesses and the resources needed.
Scanlon is proudest of the senior management’s
support and willingness to meet with W/MBEs, as
well as its ability to sponsor and host workshops
and conferences to educate W/MBEs and facilitate
networking and matchmaking. This happens not only for the company’s
buyers, but also for buyers from both the public and private sectors.
Scanlon is a major supporter of the Women’s Business Committee. BNY
Mellon has hosted its annual conference for the last six year as well as
the quarterly National Minority Business Council’s Procurement Luncheon.
Scanlon was recently named chair of the advisory committee for the National
Minority Business Council. Scanlon served as the expo committee co-chair
for the NY/NJ Council’s 2009 Expo. BNY Mellon was the Expo Corporate
Chair. Scanlon serves on the NY/NJ Council’s Certification Committee and
has hosted the Annual MBE Meeting for the last two years.
