As the senior manager of Procurement Operations for DTE Energy, John H. Eley, Jr. is responsible for many different roles and responsibilities including Supplier Diversity. Here John has helped DTE Energy increase its diversity spending by 4.3 percent in 2010 in comparison to the amount spent in 2009. In addition to his responsibilities with Supplier Diversity, John is responsible for Corporate Procurement and the Supplier Pre-Qualifications Program.

John has seen significant successes integrating MWBE partners into DTE Energy through the mentorship and training program that he has developed and helps to run. Through a mix of one-on-one meetings, seminars and events, he has been able to educate both internal departments and the MWBE partners ensuring a robust and mutually profitable relationship.

John also serves on the Center for Empowerment and Economic Development (CEED) Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and is a representative to the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Supplier Diversity Committee.
