As the director, global supply chain sustainability at Baxter International Inc., Julie Brautigam has responsibility for driving social and environmental supplier sustainability strategies, supplier diversity and product stewardship compliance. She relies on teamwork to create a competitive advantage for the company. For example, she partners with the inclusion and diversity team, business resource groups, commercial sales and marketing channels, and purchasing to advance supplier diversity opportunities. She was pleased when Baxter agreed to sponsor a MBE to attend the NMSDC Advanced Management Education Program in conjunction with Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business.

Julie ascribes to an empowering leadership approach that is based on the principles of influence, integrate, impact and inspire. She has implemented a system for measuring progress, data transparency, education, and storytelling through communications. Her success reflects her enthusiasm for embracing all of the Baxter organization in the supplier diversity effort. She daily leads the procurement team, employees and stakeholders through the diverse supplier inclusion process.
