Lamont Robinson Helps Nielsen SD Program ‘RIISE’ to the Top

Lamont Robinson is the vice president of supplier diversity at Nielsen, accepting the challenge of developing a supplier diversity program in a non traditional industry. Bringing a true passion for diversity to the position, he leads by inspiring others to succeed. His approach is to place people in decision-making scenarios that have a great impact so they naturally assume a leadership role. Lamont’s step approach to building a robust supplier diversity program includes first understanding the new supplier’s industry and needs and determining a best fit with client needs. This enables the strategic integration of the supplier and Nielsen’s goals.

Lamont builds the supplier diversity program around five goals he named as the acronym RIISE. He considers a successful program as one which seeks Revenue-generating opportunities through supplier diversity; Increases net income through cost savings with diverse suppliers; enhances Nielsen’s Internal infrastructure; increases diverse supplier Spend; and constantly seeks Educational opportunities on supplier diversity for employees, clients, suppliers and communities. He reported a 46 percent increase in diversity spend from 2012 to 2013.
