ISM-New Jersey Crystal Awards

The Institute for Supply Management –New Jersey announced today that Ms. Valentina Palange, Regional Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer for the Johnson & Johnson Consumer Group, is the recipient of its 2012 Crystal Award. The Crystal Award is presented annually to the outstanding purchasing executive. The recipient is selected from nominations submitted by the members of ISM-NJ who have exhibited strong leadership in promoting the purchasing profession, developed corporate relationships with diverse and minority suppliers and implemented innovative programs including environmental/green initiatives all while keeping an eye on the bottom line.

ISM - NJ also announced that Ms. Susan Hogan, Supplier Diversity Manager for the Procurement Organization at Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. (PSEG) in Newark, New Jersey is the Dinner Chairperson Award recipient for this prestigious event. The dinner chairperson is the executive who received the next highest rating in the nomination selection process.

Ms. Valentina Palange

Ms. Palange, in addition to her duties as Johnson & Johnson’s Regional Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer, currently serves on the US Baby Products Business Board, Consumer Women’s Leadership Initiative Steering Committee and actively works with minority, women, and small business owners promoting business partnerships.

Ms. Palange is a nationwide mentor in the American Corporate Partners program dedicated to helping Veterans transition from the Armed Services to the civilian workforce.

Ms. Palange is a 2011 ISM Diamond Award recipient for the mentoring of women and minorities and in promoting the profession, and a 2012 Tribute to Women and Industry honoree, nominated by Johnson & Johnson, for recognition of her leadership, career achievement and significant impact on the organization.

Ms. Palange began her Johnson & Johnson career 26 years ago and has worked in supply chain operations both in internal and external manufacturing, package development, worldwide franchise operations, procurement strategic sourcing roles and business development.

Ms. Palange served as a Captain in the U.S. Army and held two command positions involving rapid deployment operations, including a Multinational Peacekeeping Force assignment in the Middle East.

Ms. Palange holds a B.S. in Business Administration and B.A. in Communications, from the University of Maine.

Ms. Susan Hogan

Ms. Hogan’s background includes over twenty five years’ experience in all aspects of Supply Chain Management including twenty years extensive experience in supplier diversity. Since joining PSEG in 1991 Ms. Hogan’s primary responsibilities have included the management and leadership of the Supplier Diversity Process, which encompasses the development, communication, and implementation of policies, strategies and initiatives, related to supporting a diverse supply base and the development of an advanced Supplier Diversity Process. Under Mrs. Hogan’s leadership, PSEG has increased its expenditures with certified minority and women-owned businesses by 445%.

Ms. Hogan has held a Board of Directors Seat with the NY / NJ Minority Supplier Development Council Inc. for over six years and is a Past President and Board Member of the NJ Board of Public Utilities, Supplier Diversity Development Council. Ms. Hogan has received numerous national and international awards for her commitment to the inclusion of minority and women-owned businesses.
