How Opportunity Led Darrell Searcy to Become a Supplier for PGA Championships

Darrell Searcy, President, Chandler Campbelle & Daschle Darrell Searcy is the President of Chandler Campbelle & Daschle (CC&D), a minority-owned business that works alongside the PGA of America and its prime supplier, The Convention Store, at the PGA Championship each year.

Like many business owners, Searcy is always looking for the next opportunity he can explore to further grow his business, and he found that through the PGA of America’s Diverse Business Opportunity Exchange.

The PGA’s Diverse Business Opportunity Exchange is designed to assist PGA Major Championship Prime Suppliers in identifying prospective, certified minority-, women-, Veteran-, disabled- and LGBTQ-owned business suppliers that can provide goods and services in specific categories.

Attending this event provided CC&D the opportunity to interview with The Convention Store, where they were able to acquire a deal to provide logistics services at the PGA Championship.

“The hardest part of being a small business owner is managing the business while trying to grow it at the same time,” added Searcy. “The PGA provided me with an opportunity to do both. I am forever indebted to the PGA of America for this great opportunity.”

Through this partnership, Searcy was also able to support another passion of his with the help of his African American fraternity, Sigma Pi Phi. A partnership with the PGA of America’s foundation, PGA REACH, was created between Sigma Pi Phi’s social action program and PGA Jr. League, as a result of an aligned mission to grow the number of youth of color participating in golf.

PGA Jr. League is the flagship youth program of PGA REACH, with the goal of making the program accessible to all interested kids in the United States and around the world. As such, the program focuses on fun, recreation, good health and sportsmanship. PGA Jr. League is recreational and developmental in nature and works with PGA Sections and local youth organizations across the country to offer an alternative, social golf format.

CC&D’s partnership with the PGA of America now includes helping create PGA Jr. League programs in minority communities in seven cities around the country, and they have been introducing the game of golf to youth who have historically been unengaged by the golf community. Through the Sigma Pi Phi/ PGA REACH partnership, youth of color in these communities are provided at no cost access to golf courses, and PGA Professional instruction, equipment, and uniforms. Sigma Pi Phi helps transport the children to and from the golf course to help ensure all kids in the area have equal access.

A true success story in life and business, Searcy serves as an example of what can result from your business participating in the PGA of America’s Diverse Business Opportunity Exchange events.
